Graphic Design is an intensive course focused on learning the basics of Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator and InDesign simultaneously. Course exercises guide students through the user interfaces, tools, actions and file formats of each program individually. The larger projects require the use of each program (through linking) to create one final, packaged document. The online course platform has weekly or daily modules in the form of step-by-step video tutorials and written instructions. I also provide notes on shortcut keys (Mac & PC), tool descriptions, and information on design principles, perspective, colour theory, typography, etc.

Perspective Exercise | Students must insert two people in perspective and numerous objects on the wall. The focus of this assignment is correct perspective and colour-matching.

Movie Poster Project | Students must create their own Photoshop composite for a fictional movie of their design. Next, they will include typography created in Illustrator and link all documents to an InDesign file with the final poster layout. The document must be packaged. Learning outcomes are focused on colour-matching, shadows, highlights, blending modes and adjustment layers.

Introductory Illustrator Exercise | After watching the introduction to the Illustrator interface, tools and capabilities, students must create vector shapes from the supplied drawing. The focus of this assignment is to learn what vector shapes are and how to utilize tools to create them.

Introductory Illustrator Exercise | Students must create vector shapes/objects and distribute them into a pattern. The focus of this assignment is to learn more about the tools used to create vector shapes, colour, and pattern making.
